wouldn’t it be grand to have a man like this for president ? he would be killed before that could happen.
i’m from a family of 4 children, a working stiff in food service, chef, retired. my brother, a multi-millionaire is one which the senator is talking about.
i live near and take care of our 92 year old mother. he stops by once a year, gives her a check for her birthday, and christmas.
i had a hold on my drivers licence because of past child support, so i had to bus and bicycle to moms.
when moms estate is sold upon her death, each will get about 50K.
i begged my brother for 15K, with a guarantee of my inheritance to pay back, so i could get my licience, to drive mom around.
the excuse he gave me was sickining, i attacked him in a e-mail, he took me to court, 10 years restraining orders of contact with him.
in the last 5 years, he’s been on 3 world cruises, 4 smaller ones, and this christmas he is taking his new girlfriend on another.
this rich bastard wants to be waited on, doesn’t cook, and be served.
yet i’m the one who makes dinner for mom every night, yard work, home repairs, and he’s on another cruise.
i’m sorry i’m bitching to you, but this man from vermont brought it out.

Jesus, Phillip, that first part of your story is fucked up. When you’re a kid like that, you’ve got no idea what’s going on in the mind of some twisted-ass adult. I was out on my own at 16 in Chicago, and it’s a wonder I survived the first year or two. Mine was a classic example of the summer of acid and love turning into the long winter of speed, heroin, crime, and paranoia.
It’s late and I need to get some sleep, but I’ve gotta tell you tomorrow about the time I got jacked up by the cops in Grants, NM when I was 17.

i’m 63 years old, went to californa on a bus a few weeks after high school, had to get away from tucson, with about one hundred bucks in my pocket.
san deigo first, and this very large black man was very friendly to me, asked me if i wanted to have a drink with him, i thought why not.
i never drank whisky before, only beer. he got me passing out drunk and raped me, i was 18.
i never knew about any of this stuff, no one ever said anything while growing up.
went to SF after that, from the frying pan into the fire.
this boy got street wise very quickly.
i got a job at the corner of haight and masonic, the drugstore cafe, at the begining of the haight thing, 1966. dropped out and became part of this amazing thing that was happening.
i hooked up with a band, ‘allmen joy’, did their equipment and set up. santana would borrow our amps, they didn’t have them yet, and did gigs together.
the band and myself, played second bill with joplin, the dead, 13 floor elevator, the airplane, and a two day concert with the Doors in denver, and many more.
what i was going to tell you before all the above, was about my guitar that i’ve had since i was 19, an acoustic Harmony Sovereign, it was maybe 15 years old when i got it from a junkie who sold me his pawn ticket. she’s a beauty. i own about 5 things from those times, and have no idea how they stayed with me, no idea at all, but they did.
your guitar sounds as though it has become a part of you also, the last thing to go, if then.
thats all..!

Phillip:
No doubt the internet makes possible long distance friendships that would have been largely unimaginable when we were young men, or even well into middle age. For that matter, I met the woman I’ve lived with for the past 14 months online. And just last night, a guy who I’ve only ever talked with online over the past 7-8 years on a music site offered to build me a guitar along the lines of a Fender Stratocaster–for free. He retired from a human resources job and moved from Northern California to Oregon at about the same time as I got divorced (2005) and then fucked over by the university I worked for (2006), and we’ve always just had good advice for each other over the years. Building guitars is his retirement hobby, and for the past year or so, I’ve been playing a lot more, and a lot better, than I ever have before. I had sold off most of mine after the divorce, and was down to one low-end Gibson Les Paul. It’s a great guitar, and I’d never part with it, but a little variety would be nice for a change.
I have no idea who the guy in the Indy Jones hat with the Beast is. I really wish I could remember where I found that, because I’d like to know who the artist is. Any imagination that could conceive that would surely have some other interesting work.
About a week ago, Caprice (my gf) and I watched a movie on Netflix Instant Play called "The Missing." It was set in New Mexico, c. 1885 or thereabouts. In case you haven’t seen it, I won’t say a word to spoil the plot, because I highly recommend it. It’s a western thriller, for lack of a better classification, and damn, it’s a good story. Directed by Ron Howard, starring Tommy Lee Jones and Cate Blanchette, among others. Thought you might be interested in it since it’s at least in theory about the history of New Mexico.
Later,
Mark

Phillip:
Attached is a jpeg file of "The Beast." I can’t remember where I lifted it from, but fuck, the first time I saw it, I immediately thought of Susan (my ex).
Feel free to contact me by email at any time. The yahoo profile thing only works fitfully at best, and I’ve wasted more hours than I can recall trying without success to post even the simplest things.
